We all love our cars. Whether it’s going green or fixing up a muscle car, men and women are always attached to their cars for one reason or another. In fact, many people love their cars so much, many people actually give them names!
I know what you’re thinking. That’s crazy! Why would anybody want to name an automobile of all things? People have given a number of reasons. Some just have an affection for it. Others think of it as a sign of good luck. Whatever the reason, many people do it.
According to Nationwide Insurance who did a study on the subject, 25% of Americans actually name their cars. Nationwide Insurance also says that 36% of drivers between the ages of 18-34 name their cars more than other age groups. In fact, their study showed that 27% of women name their car while only 17% of men did likewise.

Other statistics show that 9% of men who name their cars name them after a historical figures. Others name them after a movie star. 4% of women also name their cars on both those counts as well. Also, up to 26% of people who name their cars think of their cars as female.
So the question still remains, what do you name your car? Having trouble with it? Well, the people at Nancy’s Baby Names have come up with a formula if you can’t decide. Before you start ask yourself these three questions:
What year was your car made?
To you, what gender is your car?
How old were you when you got your current car?
After you answer those three questions, look to see what the most popular baby names are in your country. For the US, simply look up the Social Security’s webpage on baby names here. First, find the set rankings using their year your car was made and what gender you consider it to be. Then, scroll down to the same number as your age when you bought the car. That’s your car’s new name.

For example, let’s say you have a 2011 Lincoln Navigator. You consider your car to be male. You got your car when you were 51. So, this means you would go to the 2011 boy name rankings, scroll down to 51 and find out your car’s name would be Jeremiah.
Another example. Let’s say you have a 1968 Chevy Chevelle. You consider your car female and you got it when you were 31-years-old. So, you would go to the 1968 girl name rankings, scroll down to 31 and you would find the name Wendy.
